HMH Literacy Program Secures Top Marks in Science of Reading Review

The independent assessment serves as a significant benchmark for the Boston-based learning company. The Reading League, a nonprofit composed of educators and reading experts, scrutinized both teacher-facing and student-facing materials to determine how effectively the program integrates the science of reading. Their findings highlight the curriculum’s structured scope-and-sequence pathways and a data-driven assessment system designed to facilitate student differentiation.

Jim O'Neill, President of Core and Supplemental Solutions at HMH, noted that the review reflects a growing national demand for classroom tools backed by rigorous research. Currently, the program is utilized by millions of students and holds approval on core literacy lists in 34 states. By achieving these ratings, HMH reinforces its position in the competitive K-12 market, where the company serves approximately 50 million students globally through its integrated curriculum and professional development solutions.
