Through July 17, community members are invited to drop off new backpacks at any North Island Credit Union branch across San Diego County. Once collected, the credit union fills each bag with necessary school supplies before the Boys & Girls Clubs distribute the kits to children in need.
"A new backpack filled with school supplies can make a meaningful difference for a student walking into the first day of school," said Steve O'Connell, President and CEO of North Island Credit Union. The organization serves as a division of California Credit Union, which manages assets of nearly $5.4 billion and maintains 25 retail branches. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego facilitates these efforts through its network of 22 community-based sites, providing resources for students aged 5 to 18.
