The project, spearheaded by the Samueli Family, aims to anchor its massive 100-acre mixed-use district with a roster of local, chef-driven kitchens. The newly unveiled partners include Danielle Duran Zecca and Alessandro Zecca of Amiga Amore, Alberto Bañuelos of Burritos La Palma, Alex Garcia and Elvia Huerta of Evil Cooks, Kanate Ungkasrithongkul and Anita Lin of Manaao, and chef Zach Scherer. These operators will occupy a portion of the 21 kitchen spaces planned for the two-story facility.
Nick Pacific, Vice President of Katella Commons Development, stated that the selection process prioritized culinary voices with deep community roots rather than generic concepts. The venue is designed to function as a social hub connecting the district’s public plazas to the upcoming mass timber office building, The Weave. With a total of 21 kitchens and six bar concepts expected upon completion, the developers intend to use this partnership model to lower traditional barriers to entry for independent restaurant owners. Additional operators are expected to be announced later this year as construction progresses toward the 2027 public debut.
