Despite the new signage and formal connection to the company’s national platform, the dealership confirms there are no changes to local ownership, staffing, or daily operations at the 9010 Shawnee Mission Parkway facility. General Manager Clay Shafer noted that the move is designed to provide customers with a more consistent and transparent experience, leveraging the broader resources of the parent group while maintaining the established local team.
Group 1 Automotive has operated the Merriam location for nearly twenty years. By adopting the BMW of Shawnee Mission name, the company intends to simplify its retail presence, making it easier for customers to recognize and trust its dealerships across different markets. The facility continues to offer comprehensive services, including new and pre-owned vehicle sales, maintenance, parts, and collision support for drivers throughout the greater Kansas City area, Overland Park, and Shawnee.
