Huawei Unveils AI-Optical Network Suite to Accelerate 10 Gbps Adoption

At the AI-ON Summit in Shanghai, Huawei introduced 10 innovative products designed to integrate optical infrastructure with artificial intelligence. The rollout aims to shift global operators toward high-speed 10 Gbps services and advanced computing networks, addressing the growing demand for large-scale AI deployment and token-based monetization models.

Huawei Unveils AI-Optical Network Suite to Accelerate 10 Gbps Adoption

The summit, held during MWC Shanghai 2026, gathered industry leaders from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and major global operators to address the intersection of optical networks and AI. Ao Li, Vice President of CAICT, noted that the industry is currently transitioning from 'gigabit everywhere' to a '10G ramp-up,' creating a critical foundation for millisecond-level computing and autonomous network management.

Operators, including China Mobile, China Telecom, and Zain Jordan, are shifting their focus toward value-driven operations. By leveraging AI-centric upgrades, these providers are enhancing home broadband experiences and upgrading enterprise private lines to support high-quality computing access. Kim Jin, Vice President of Huawei’s Optical Business Product Line, emphasized that the company’s new AI-FAN and AI-OTN product series are engineered to maximize the value of existing infrastructure while facilitating the widespread adoption of AI services.

To support this transition, Huawei’s new portfolio includes:

    • High-density 50G PON service boards and AI-FTTR home hubs for ultra-gigabit and 10 Gbps connectivity.
    • Infrastructure solutions for 1 ms computing networks, featuring Mini OXC and end-to-end OSU/fgOTN technology.
    • Specialized tools for national and international data center interconnects, including ultra-large OTN cluster solutions.
    • Resilience-focused systems such as AI DAS and 50 ms WSON to ensure network stability.
