The project serves 124 community anchor institutions, including schools and public safety facilities, while providing connectivity to 15,000 homes and businesses. This expansion addresses a long-standing lack of reliable internet options in the region, positioning the Town of Parker for improved economic competitiveness. The development was fueled by a $10 million Arizona Broadband Development Grant, supplemented by a $35 million private investment from Wecom Fiber.
Rachel Solomon, CEO of Wecom Fiber, noted that the company is leveraging this success as a foundation for broader state-wide efforts, particularly as the largest recipient of BEAD program awards in Arizona. Local officials, including Mayor Randy Hartless and La Paz County Supervisor Duce Minor, emphasized that the new infrastructure provides essential access for local commerce and residential life that was previously unavailable. The effort is part of a larger state program, which has allocated $100 million across 19 projects to modernize connectivity in underserved Arizona communities.
