LGMG Demos Megawatt-Class Charging for Electric Mining Fleets

Under the harsh conditions of an Ordos mine, LGMG demonstrated a new integrated energy ecosystem designed to break the industry's reliance on diesel. The three-day festival showcased hardware capable of reaching 3.6 MW peak charging power, aiming to prove that electrification can match the productivity of traditional heavy-duty mining machinery.

LGMG Demos Megawatt-Class Charging for Electric Mining Fleets

The demonstration centered on a solar-storage-charging loop that synchronizes renewable power generation with high-capacity battery infrastructure. By integrating megawatt-class charging stations directly with intelligent fleet dispatching, LGMG aims to solve the perennial bottleneck of downtime in electrified mining operations. A key technical feature is the 3C fast-charging architecture, which allows mining trucks to move from 20% to 90% charge in just 23 minutes. The hardware is built for extreme environments, featuring thermal management systems engineered to function reliably across an 80-degree temperature range, from -30°C to 50°C.

Beyond individual machines, the company is positioning its centralized energy management platform as the backbone for remote operations. This software coordinates power distribution and charging cycles to ensure that equipment remains operational even when grid capacity is restricted. Coupled with a new global service initiative covering remanufacturing and intelligent maintenance, the company is targeting a transition toward fully digital, emission-free fleets in coal mining and overburden removal sectors.
