Function and Google Health Merge Lab Data with Wearable Insights

A new partnership between Function and Google Health aims to bridge the gap between daily lifestyle habits and internal biological markers. Starting this fall, US users can integrate Function’s lab test data directly into the Google Health app, creating a unified view that connects wearable metrics with clinical results.

The collaboration leverages data from devices such as the Google Fitbit Air, Pixel Watch 5, and Fitbit Edge, which track physiological signals like heart rate variability and sleep patterns. By pairing these metrics with Function’s suite of over 160 lab tests, users can observe how daily behaviors—such as changes in exercise or nutrition—impact their internal health. Function’s Medical Intelligence system translates these complex clinical results into actionable insights, providing context for markers like Apolipoprotein B, fasting insulin, and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein.

This integration is designed to support the Google Health Coach, which will use the combined data to offer tailored wellness guidance. According to Jonathan Swerdlin, co-founder and CEO of Function, the move represents a shift away from fragmented health tracking toward a model where personal data is securely available for real-time decision-making. The companies intend for this longitudinal view to help individuals identify health shifts earlier and facilitate more informed discussions with their primary clinicians.
