The MeMed Key™ addresses a persistent hurdle in modern medicine: the speed required to determine whether an acute infection is viral or bacterial. By condensing a traditional benchtop assay into an automated, intuitive system, the platform allows general practitioners to make faster treatment choices, potentially curbing the misuse of antibiotics. The project integrated MeMed’s host-response diagnostic expertise with Invetech’s end-to-end engineering, covering everything from firmware and electronics to regulatory safety testing and manufacturing process validation.
Eran Eden, CEO and co-founder of MeMed, described the award as a milestone for bringing advanced diagnostic technology directly into routine clinical practice. The jury specifically praised the device for its technical sophistication and its ability to simplify complex clinical workflows. By focusing on human-centered design and systems integration, the development team created a platform that the jury noted has the potential to significantly improve diagnostic decentralization and patient responsiveness.
