Avalara Debuts Agentic AI to Tackle European Tax Complexity

As European regulatory landscapes shift toward real-time digital reporting, Avalara is deploying agentic AI to automate cross-border compliance. At its CRUSH Europe conference, the firm unveiled tools designed to shrink manual oversight from days to minutes, aiming to help global retailers maintain speed without ballooning their administrative headcount.

Avalara Debuts Agentic AI to Tackle European Tax Complexity

Fortnum & Mason and ASOS, both grappling with the demands of international commerce, highlighted how automated compliance functions as a primary engine for global growth. For Fortnum & Mason, which ships to nearly 90 countries, automating tax and duty calculations for diverse product classifications is essential to maintain service standards. Similarly, ASOS leverages these systems to scale fashion retail operations across borders, avoiding the need for manual intervention as regulatory requirements grow increasingly interconnected.

To address systemic gaps, Avalara launched its Aviator platform, an agent hub that coordinates tax processes across disparate systems. The tool manages tasks like product-to-tax code mapping and exemption certificate validation while maintaining audit-defensible records. Complementing this, the company introduced Versori, an integration fabric that uses specialized AI agents to deploy connectors between ERP and e-commerce platforms in days rather than months. These advancements arrive as Europe prepares for a mandatory e-invoicing wave, with Avalara positioning its platform to handle country-specific mandates through a single API configuration rather than repeated software reimplementation.
