The transaction, valued at approximately US$266 million, grants ECARX full ownership of Hubei Qiguang Technology Co., Ltd. By bringing the Flyme business in-house, the company aims to unify its silicon and computing platforms with a mature software ecosystem. Flyme Auto is currently integrated into 3.5 million production vehicles, and the acquisition preserves this existing footprint while establishing the unit as an independent software division within ECARX to ensure R&D continuity.
Ziyu Shen, CEO of ECARX, stated that owning the entire technology stack will accelerate innovation and open new revenue streams through software licensing and ecosystem monetization. The deal was financed through a mix of internal capital and syndicated bank loans with a 10-year maturity. Beyond the purchase price, ECARX plans to inject an additional 200 million RMB into the acquired entity to bolster operations as it expands its role in supporting global automakers' transition to software-defined vehicle architectures.
