Alfa Laval to Fully Integrate Desmet by 2027

Four years after its initial acquisition of Desmet, Alfa Laval is moving to dissolve the unit’s separate status. The Swedish engineering giant plans to fold the Belgian firm’s extraction expertise into its own core operations to create a single, end-to-end provider for the global oils, fats, and biofuel industries.

Alfa Laval to Fully Integrate Desmet by 2027

The transition will see the Desmet brand shift from an independent entity to a specialized product and process technology line within Alfa Laval’s Food & Pharma Division. By July 2027, the company aims to combine Desmet’s upstream processing capabilities with Alfa Laval’s own strengths in heat transfer and separation. According to Sammy Hulpiau, President of the Food & Pharma Division, the move is designed to simplify project execution for clients while accelerating innovation across a shared global network spanning more than 150 countries.

Since its acquisition in 2022, Desmet—which includes the RoseDowns and Stolz brands—has functioned as a standalone business. The integration process will unfold in phases to protect ongoing projects and existing customer relationships. Once completed, the consolidated organization intends to offer a seamless technology value chain, supporting industrial efforts to transition toward more sustainable and profitable production models at scale.
