The expansion reflects a strategic shift for the duo, who previously built their professional reputations managing automotive dealerships in the region. After discovering the brand during a visit to Bentonville, Arkansas, Matulewic and Hatchett leveraged their experience with franchise systems to bring the fast-casual concept to the Kansas market. According to Matulewic, the operational rigor required to run car dealerships translates directly to the restaurant sector, where success hinges on disciplined processes and staff management.
To mark the opening, the restaurant will host a series of promotions throughout October, including giveaways and rewards points. The team is also partnering with the Wichita Cancer Foundation to support the Newk's Cares x Lori's Light initiative, with a pledge to match donations up to $2,000. For the parent company, FSC Franchise Co., the Wichita site represents the brand's broader momentum as it approaches its 100th location nationwide. CEO Chris Elliott credited the franchisees' operator mindset for the accelerated growth, noting that the quick turnaround between the first and second locations underscores the viability of the Newk's model in the local market.
