The studio debuts with One Zero One, a four-part comic series rooted in an original manuscript by Jones. Set against the backdrop of a looming conflict between humanity and rogue AI soldiers, the project acts as a proof-of-concept for the company’s collaborative philosophy. Rather than adapting a single source into secondary formats, Stone Kite brings creators from comics, television, and literature together at the start to ensure narrative consistency across all mediums.
The venture is backed by a roster of industry veterans, including Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Stephen Wacker and former Activision Blizzard executive Lewis Peterson. The team has recruited over 250 contributors, such as screenwriter Akela Cooper and director Jay Roach, to populate their pipeline. According to Stohl, the goal is to break the silos that typically define media production, fostering communities that can engage with these universes through whichever platform they prefer. Digital issues of the debut series are now available online, with print editions arriving as the studio looks to expand its footprint in the entertainment landscape through 2027.
