This proactive approach is intended to help employees recover more efficiently and potentially avoid longer absences from the workplace.

Joi Tillman, president of Group Benefits at Sun Life U.S., noted that combining disability coverage with navigation tools offers employers a more effective strategy for managing health outcomes. Jen Collier, president of Health and Risk Solutions, added that while connecting patients to the right specialists is a fundamental need, it remains a difficult hurdle in the current healthcare climate. The service does not provide medical care itself but functions as an advisory layer that helps employees utilize existing benefits more effectively. This integration is available alongside Sun Life’s standalone navigation services and medical stop-loss coverage for self-funded plans.
