Vuzix Debuts Shrike Waveguide Platform for Defense and Security

The Shrike platform provides a flexible hardware foundation for integrating augmented reality into mission-critical environments. It delivers full-color, 1280 × 720 resolution imagery across a 40-degree field of view. Engineered for high-stakes utility, the display reaches a brightness of 3,000 nits, ensuring visibility for users operating drones or unmanned ground vehicles in demanding conditions. Its modular design allows for either monocular or binocular configurations, providing developers the versatility needed to refine requirements for specific field programs.

Beyond basic optics, the system incorporates advanced features such as electrochromic tinting and Vuzix Incognito technology, which minimizes outward light leakage to help operators maintain stealth. Paul Travers, President and CEO of Vuzix, noted that the platform is intended to bridge the gap between initial hardware evaluation and the deployment of purpose-built wearable systems. By leveraging the company’s domestic manufacturing capabilities, the Shrike platform aims to accelerate the development cycle for government and security contractors. Vuzix will showcase the technology at the AUSA Annual Meeting & Exposition in Washington, D.C., this October and at Modern Warfare Week in North Carolina this November.
