Rainer Zietlow sets EV world record with 99,800km global tour

The journey began on July 1, 2025, taking the team through Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, the Middle East, and both Americas. To maintain the rigorous schedule, Zietlow utilized only two sets of GitiSynergy H2 tires, with the final inspection revealing that more than half of the original tread depth remained after the nearly 100,000-kilometer trek.

Zietlow reported consistent performance throughout the trip, noting that the tires provided excellent rolling resistance, allowing for approximately 400 kilometers of range per charge. He specifically highlighted the lack of aquaplaning during heavy rain in South East Asia, a testament to the tire's wet-braking capabilities. The vehicle utilized 235/60 R18 front and 255/55 R18 rear tires, matching the original equipment specifications established through a 2023 partnership with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

This endurance feat aligns with a broader push by Giti Tire to showcase its electric vehicle technology. Chris Bloor, Executive Director at Giti Tire, stated the tour served as a real-world validation of the company's focus on durability and sustainability. The official Guinness World Record certificate was presented at the IAA Transportation event on September 14, 2026. This achievement follows another milestone for the manufacturer, as a YANGWANG U9 Xtreme recently set a production car speed record of 496.22 km/h using GitiSport e.GTR2 Pro tires.
