Biman Bangladesh Airlines Adds 11 Boeing Jets to Expansion Plan

The supplemental agreement follows a previous order for 14 aircraft earlier this year, marking a significant push to modernize the airline’s aging fleet. Biman currently relies on a mix of 787, 777, and 737 Next-Generation models to serve routes across Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. By integrating the newer 787-10 and 737-8 variants, the airline anticipates a 20-25% increase in fuel efficiency compared to its existing hardware.

Rumee A. Hossain, chairman of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, noted that the acquisition aligns with a broader strategy to bolster international connectivity for the country’s business and expatriate communities. Boeing’s senior vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing, Brad McMullen, emphasized that the follow-on order reinforces the manufacturer's long-standing partnership with the carrier, providing the versatility required for Biman’s single-aisle and long-haul network operations.
