The collaboration builds on a relationship that began with the introduction of 4DX technology and the 2018 launch of ScreenX at Pathé La Villette in Paris. By extending film visuals onto the auditorium’s side walls, the format attempts to move beyond the traditional front-screen experience, placing viewers inside a 270-degree display.
Don Savant, Chief Business Officer at CJ 4DPLEX, described Europe as a strategically vital market for the company’s growth. Laure de Boissard, Managing Director of Pathé Cinémas, noted that the expansion is a logical progression of their joint commitment to premium cinema. With Pathé currently operating 1,308 screens across its global footprint, this move aims to solidify the presence of immersive technology in three of the continent's most active markets.
