Valens and onsemi Partner to Streamline Automotive Camera Connectivity

The agreement targets the 1-3MP range, a segment that currently accounts for the majority of automotive image sensors. By integrating Valens’ connectivity technology directly into onsemi sensors, the companies intend to reduce component counts and lower the barrier for Tier 1 suppliers and OEMs looking to implement high-speed data transmission. Valens CEO Yoram Salinger noted that the partnership provides automakers with critical supplier choice, a hallmark of robust industry standards.

Ahmed Salem, vice president of onsemi’s Intelligent Sensing Group, emphasized that the move addresses customer pressure to simplify design without sacrificing performance. As vehicle vision systems grow in complexity, this streamlined approach is positioned as a primary entry point for bringing MIPI A-PHY into high-volume mainstream vehicles. The initiative combines Valens’ expertise in connectivity chipsets with onsemi’s footprint in automotive imaging, marking a significant step in the maturation of the A-PHY ecosystem.
