Hemlo Mining Expands Exploration Strategy Under New Porphyry Model

Hemlo Mining Corp. is shifting its regional exploration strategy across 45,000 hectares of Ontario land, reinterpreting the Hemlo gold deposit as an Archean porphyry-epithermal system. By applying this refined geological blueprint, the company aims to identify new mineralized clusters similar to the 25-million-ounce mine.

Hemlo Mining Expands Exploration Strategy Under New Porphyry Model

The company’s updated geological framework follows a review led by experts including Dr. Richard Sillitoe and Dr. Ruben Padilla. Data suggests the Hemlo mine’s Moose Lake porphyry acts as an exploration blueprint for regional targets, characterized by gold-molybdenum mineralization and distinct potassic alteration. This model is now being deployed to re-evaluate the Pic Property, Hemlo West, and Hemlo North areas.

The Pic Property, located 25 kilometers northwest of the mine, serves as the primary focus for current exploration. Historical data from the site’s Beggs Area shows high-grade potential, including surface samples reaching 734.0 grams per tonne gold and historical drill intercepts of 133.2 g/t Au over 2.0 meters. Similarly, the Wire Area presents a three-kilometer gold-bearing corridor that remains largely underexplored at depth.

Management plans to advance these targets through a phased approach. Field programs at the Pic Property are scheduled to begin this month, followed by regional airborne geophysics later in 2026. The company intends to integrate these new findings with historical data to finalize drill-ready targets for a 2027 exploration campaign.
