Z Squared CEO David Halabu Outlines AI Infrastructure Strategy

Z Squared Inc. CEO David Halabu is pivoting the company toward AI infrastructure, targeting the acquisition and retrofitting of existing industrial sites. In recent podcast appearances, Halabu defined the firm’s strategy as a triple-net landlord, tasking shareholders with monitoring two primary performance metrics: total megawatts under management and signed customer leases.

Z Squared CEO David Halabu Outlines AI Infrastructure Strategy

Halabu, appearing on The Wall Street Resource and The Nano Cap Podcast, detailed the company's method of identifying former crypto mining and manufacturing sites for conversion. By prioritizing locations already equipped with power, fiber, and water, Z Squared aims to bypass the lengthy timelines associated with greenfield data center development. The company’s flagship asset, the Union County Campus in El Dorado, Arkansas, currently holds eight megawatts of total capacity, with plans to scale toward 150 megawatts through a mix of utility power and on-site generation.

Operating as a landlord rather than a compute provider, Z Squared intends to lease land and power access to enterprise AI users without purchasing or managing GPUs. Halabu anticipates the initial six to eight megawatts will be ready for monetization by early-to-mid 2027. Amid rising demand for AI compute, the company is also exploring behind-the-meter generation to mitigate the impact of tightening utility interconnection timelines. Halabu emphasized that the firm’s growth will remain disciplined, with conversion capital deployed only in alignment with confirmed contracts and site readiness.
