Mike and Kass Lazerow Acquire Stake in Merraine Group

After selling Buddy Media to Salesforce for $745 million, Mike and Kass Lazerow are pivoting toward executive recruitment. The serial entrepreneurs have acquired a controlling interest in the 25-year-old staffing firm Merraine Group, simultaneously launching a dedicated practice aimed at accelerating hiring for venture-backed startups.

The new unit, Merraine Growth, focuses on the specific velocity required by early and growth-stage companies. Founder David Gantshar, who retains his role as CEO, will leverage the Lazerows' extensive network and operating experience—honed through investments in over 100 companies including Facebook and Liquid Death—to scale the firm’s reach. According to Mike Lazerow, the move was prompted by repeated inquiries from founders struggling with the high cost of poor hiring decisions.

Merraine Growth is already active in the AI, fintech, and healthtech sectors, filling roles ranging from initial sales hires to C-suite and board-level positions. Among its early successes, the firm helped Carda Health scale revenue by 400%, a performance that CEO Harry DiFrancesco attributes to the agency’s ability to screen candidates with the precision of an internal team. By integrating the Lazerows' operational background with Merraine’s established infrastructure, the firm aims to position itself as a strategic partner for companies navigating rapid expansion.
