Insta360 and Leica Take the Luna Pro to the Streets of New York

Midtown Manhattan transformed into an open-air studio on September 10th as twenty photographers and videographers gathered to stress-test the new Luna Pro. The flagship store event moved beyond the showroom, pushing creators into the urban sprawl for a color-focused expedition through Times Square and Rockefeller Center.

The half-day session, organized by Insta360, paired technical tutorials with a structured 'color hunt' designed to evaluate the camera’s performance in real-world lighting. Participants were divided into red, yellow, and blue teams, navigating a route that spanned from 1515 Broadway to Bryant Park. This field test allowed users to experiment with Leica-engineered color profiles and lens optics while capturing the city's architecture and street life.

This launch signifies an evolution in the partnership between Insta360 and Leica, which began in 2020. By integrating a Leica Summicron lens and proprietary color profiles into the Luna Pro, the brands are targeting a creator demographic focused on mobile imaging. According to Max Richter, VP of Marketing and Co-Founder of Insta360, the event was intended to demonstrate how the hardware handles the motion and light of an environment as demanding as New York. The day wrapped with a communal review session at the Times Square flagship, where creators compared how different perspectives altered the visual interpretation of the same urban landscape.
