Courtyard, an entertainment shopping platform, is expanding its reach into the sneaker market with the launch of Courtyard Sneakers. Departing from standard volume-driven platforms, the company offers a curated selection of authenticated deadstock items. Users unlock a mystery pair from a collection that ranges from standard staples to rare releases like the Jordan 1 High Off-White Chicago and the Mars Yard 2.0. Once revealed, the buyer has the choice to receive the physical pair, store it in a secure vault, or sell it back at fair market value.
CEO Nico Le Jeune stated that the model targets both hardcore collectors and cultural trendsetters, emphasizing the security of knowing every item is vetted before reaching the customer. This move follows a period of rapid growth for the platform, which has scaled from $50,000 in monthly transactions in early 2024 to a $2 billion annualized volume today. By applying its existing trade-and-reveal framework to sneakers, Courtyard aims to capture a significant share of the passion-driven collectibles sector.
