Old Republic Joins American Red Cross Disaster Responder Program

Chicago-based specialty insurer Old Republic International has entered a national charitable partnership with the American Red Cross. By joining the organization's Disaster Responder Program, the Fortune 500 company aims to bolster the humanitarian group's ability to maintain the infrastructure and supplies necessary for immediate crisis intervention across the United States.

Old Republic Joins American Red Cross Disaster Responder Program

The American Red Cross manages roughly 60,000 disaster responses annually, providing emergency shelter, sustenance, and recovery resources. Membership in the Disaster Responder Program allows corporations to provide advance funding, ensuring that the charity retains the trained personnel and technology required to deploy resources the moment an emergency occurs.

Craig R. Smiddy, President and CEO of Old Republic, noted that the collaboration focuses on strengthening community resilience in the regions where the company’s employees live and work. Anne McKeough, chief development officer at the American Red Cross, emphasized that such proactive financial support is increasingly vital as the frequency of extreme weather events continues to climb. This partnership marks a strategic expansion of Old Republic’s corporate social responsibility efforts, aligning their risk management expertise with the humanitarian needs of families and communities affected by sudden catastrophe.
