Hublot and Jeff Koons Reinterpret the Balloon Dog as Wearable Art

The collaboration marks a departure from the traditionally flat, sleek profile of the Classic Fusion. Jeff Koons and Hublot CEO Julien Tornare opted to challenge standard construction principles, using 5-axis CNC milling to create cases that appear shaped by air pressure. Every element, from the domed sapphire crystal to the convex dial and the balloon-inspired crown, works to sustain the illusion of internal inflation. Even the movement features a custom-designed tungsten oscillating weight with rounded, voluminous forms to match the exterior aesthetic.

Technically, the project balances playful geometry with high-end mechanical precision. The watches are available in three versions: mirror-polished stainless steel, as well as red or blue anodized aluminum, the latter chosen specifically to capture the vivid, saturated tones of Koons' original sculptures. Signature artistic flourishes include a decorative balloon tail at the 10:30 position and a counterweight on the seconds hand shaped like the famed canine. Each of the 200 pieces per edition is assembled at the brand’s Nyon manufacture and supported by a ten-year warranty program, underscoring the shift from ephemeral art to industrial permanence.
