Canon Refines the EOS R8 Mark II with In-Body Stabilization

The R8 Mark II arrives as a deliberate evolution for photographers prioritizing a compact form factor without sacrificing professional output. Beyond the visual redesign, Canon has addressed ergonomics by integrating a multi-controller joystick on the rear, finally allowing for more intuitive autofocus point navigation and menu control. The repositioned AF-on button further signals a shift toward a more tactile, professional shooting experience.

Internally, the camera gains 5-axis in-body image stabilization, offering up to 7.5 stops of compensation. This addition complements the improved Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system, which now features specialized detection modes for motorsports, trains, and wildlife. Performance metrics have also seen a boost, with buffer capacities increasing by 58% for JPEGs and 30% for RAW files. For video creators, the R8 Mark II maintains 4K60p 10-bit recording with Canon Log 3, now supported by enhanced creative filters and analog-style film tones.
