Hanwha Power Secures ABS Approval for 22,000 CBM LNG Bunkering Vessel

The new vessel design emphasizes flexibility by utilizing multi-cargo technology capable of transporting both LNG and ammonia. By incorporating high-manganese steel cargo containment—branded as Mc-C—the design allows shipowners to adapt to future clean fuel standards with minimal structural modifications. This approach aims to protect long-term asset value in a shifting regulatory landscape.

To address the environmental demands of coastal operations, the vessel features a hybrid electric propulsion system that integrates an Energy Storage System with Onshore Power Supply. This configuration reduces emissions while the ship is berthed or maneuvering in near-shore waters. Hanwha Power has also integrated its proprietary systems, including dual-fuel generator sets and automated cargo handling, into a unified engineering and procurement package. Hoon-min Kim, head of the company's Marine Solution Business Division, stated that the certification confirms the commercial viability of their integrated approach to sustainable marine transportation.
