The presentation, slated for September 23 at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel, focuses on the sustained efficacy of sonpiretigene isteparvovec, branded as MOGENRY. This one-time, in-office intravitreal injection functions by delivering a synthetic opsin gene to bipolar retinal cells, effectively bypassing damaged photoreceptors to restore light sensitivity. The FDA has already accepted the Biologics License Application for the therapy, positioning it as a potential new standard of care for retinitis pigmentosa.
Beyond the RESTORE trial, Nanoscope Therapeutics is expanding its optogenetic platform. The company reported positive results from the STARLIGHT Phase 2 study for Stargardt disease and intends to launch a Phase 3 registrational trial for that indication in 2026. With additional programs in geographic atrophy and Leber congenital amaurosis, the firm is leveraging its proprietary multi-characteristic opsin technology to address a wide range of retinal degenerative conditions without requiring genetic testing or invasive surgery.
