ACLS to Host Discussion on Humanities in the Age of Social Media

The event, titled Hashtag Humanities: Scholars, Social Media, and Knowledge for the Public Good, gathers three prominent scholarly influencers to examine their transition from academic environments to digital engagement. Participants include Dr. Xavier Buck of the Dr. Huey P. Newton Foundation, Oxford PhD student and author Heather Colley, and public religion scholar Dr. Dan McClellan. They will discuss the strategies behind their online followings and the broader objective of expanding access to rigorous research beyond university walls.

Dr. Keyanah Nurse, Senior Program Officer for ACLS, will moderate the session. The discussion aims to highlight how humanistic research methods provide a necessary framework for verifying facts and challenging narratives in the digital sphere. The event runs from 2 to 3 PM ET via Zoom. While admission is free, registration is required through the council's official portal.
