The transition marks a strategic pivot for the Miami-based broadcaster. As Hudson assumes the executive mantle, Carlton Gillespie, a decorated reporter and Edward R. Murrow award winner, will take over as host of The Florida Roundup. This internal promotion reflects the station's ongoing focus on cultivating journalistic talent from within its own ranks.
While Hudson is moving into an administrative role, he remains a key creative force for the station. He is set to relaunch his signature program, The Sunshine Economy, this fall. The show, which originally ran for a decade, will return to both broadcast and podcast formats. The revival will debut with the Sunshine Economy Summit 2026 on September 23, a high-level event featuring regional policymakers and business leaders that Hudson will moderate alongside reporters Gillespie and Wilkine Brutus.
