His previous experience includes leading federal advocacy at IonQ and Tenable, as well as managing government affairs for EMC in Washington, D.C. His background also includes a tenure on the staff of the United States Senate Appropriations Committee, providing him with established networks across the federal policymaking landscape.

His appointment arrives as the tech industry faces heightened pressure from both emerging cyber threats and the rapid advancement of quantum computing. Danielle Sheer, Commvault’s Chief Trust Officer, noted that the company intends for Hayes to facilitate a dialogue between industry and government to ensure that regulatory guardrails keep pace with technological innovation.
