SKF Partners with Sentea to Scale Fiber-Optic Bearing Intelligence

The collaboration integrates sensing, data processing, and communication into a single industrial unit, effectively lowering the barrier for manufacturers looking to monitor critical machine health. These Insight bearings track internal variables such as lubrication levels, contact pressure, and vibration, offering a level of visibility that traditional external sensors cannot match. Mark Verbakel, head of SKF Insight bearings, noted that this deeper insight allows operators to make more informed decisions, directly addressing the industry-wide demand for reduced unplanned downtime and higher productivity.

SKF will debut the new platform at the AMB 2026 exhibition in Stuttgart, scheduled for September 15–19. The company booth will feature live demonstrations of the hardware alongside other new releases, including the Performance series of super-precision angular contact ball bearings and an automated Progressive Lubrication Pump. These additions reflect a broader strategy to refine machine tool reliability through both advanced sensing and automated maintenance support.
