Seoul’s 2026 Global Bio Conference Deepens Regulatory Ties

The conference focused on the intersection of rapid technological evolution and the necessity for agile regulatory frameworks. Experts from 75 international organizations led forums on vaccine development, recombinant protein products, and stem cell therapies, aiming to streamline the path from R&D to patient access. Minister Oh Yu-Kyoung emphasized that the event is designed to bridge the gap between innovative breakthroughs and the practical realities of international market entry.

Beyond technical discussions, the meeting facilitated 23 specialized sessions, including direct consultations between Korean firms and overseas regulators from countries such as Canada, Japan, and Singapore. A significant outcome included a proposal for Korea to serve as a reference country for the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority, a move intended to bolster the supply chain for source plasma. These sessions underscore a shift toward proactive diplomatic engagement, ensuring that domestic biotech firms receive the guidance needed to navigate complex global approval processes.
