The Studio Museum, founded in 1968, has served as a central hub for the African diaspora’s artistic contributions for nearly six decades. For Beyoncé, the contribution is personal, stemming from her history as a collector and an admirer of the museum’s efforts to make fine art accessible to broader audiences. She noted that the museum acts as a critical venue for discovering emerging Black storytellers whose work reflects universal human experiences.

Thelma Golden, the museum’s director and chief curator, emphasized that the funds will help sustain the institution’s role in reimagining the arts landscape. Since opening its new, purpose-built facility in late 2025, the museum has expanded its capacity to host world-renowned exhibitions and its signature Artist-in-Residence program. This financial support arrives as the museum continues to solidify its footprint in Harlem and its influence on the international art scene.
