Joining Klai Juba Architects in 1995, Wald rose to partner by 2005, navigating the firm through the glitzy expansion of the Strip. The subsequent recession forced a rapid diversification into convention centers and sports facilities. This shift proved vital, as the firm discovered that clients in the public sector were increasingly hungry for the high-end, user-focused design language typically reserved for luxury hotels.

By 2011, the company began an aggressive growth phase, expanding its interiors division and scaling its workforce from 30 to over 100 professionals. This trajectory culminated in 2023, when leadership rejected acquisition offers from private equity firms to finalize a 100 percent employee-owned ESOP transaction. Wald argues that this structure is essential to preserving the firm’s culture, which prioritizes an open-door policy and mentorship for the next generation of architects. Today, with projects ranging from international developments to the iconic guitar-shaped Hard Rock hotel on the Strip, the firm aims to expand its reach while maintaining the personal, collaborative DNA established during its early years as a small shop.
