Jeptha Creed Marks Decade of Heirloom Bourbon with Nine-Grain Solera

Ten years after breaking ground in Shelbyville, Kentucky, mother-daughter duo Joyce and Autumn Nethery are distilling a decade of agricultural experimentation into a single bottle. The new Jeptha Creed Solera Aged Bourbon marks the distillery’s anniversary by blending every heirloom corn varietal the family has cultivated since 2016.

The distillery’s commitment to "farm-to-glass" production centers on non-GMO grains grown on their 64-acre family property. To create this anniversary release, the team utilized nine distinct heirloom varietals, including Bloody Butcher, Jimmy Red, and Oaxacan Green. By employing a Solera aging process—systematically cycling younger bourbon into older barrels—the distillers allowed the disparate characteristics of these grains to integrate and evolve over time.

Bottled at 100 proof, the final spirit features a mash bill composed of 75% heirloom corn, 20% malted rye, and 5% malted barley. Joyce Nethery, who serves as both Master Distiller and CEO, describes the release as a culmination of the patience and dedication required to master grain-specific distillation. The bourbon will debut at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival held September 10–13. Retail availability follows on September 17 through the distillery’s online shop and visitor center, with an MSRP of $79.99 per 750ml bottle.
