CogBias AI Debuts Browser Tool to Flag Cognitive Bias in Real-Time

Atlanta-based CogBias AI has released a Chrome extension designed to identify leading and loaded language during the drafting process. By scanning text across surveys, emails, and chatbots, the tool aims to neutralize cognitive bias before data collection begins, offering automated suggestions to ensure more objective feedback from respondents.

The software functions by monitoring text as it is typed, highlighting phrases that might inadvertently nudge a respondent toward a specific answer. According to CEO Anatoly Shilman, many data integrity issues stem from phrasing choices rather than malice. By integrating directly into web-based interfaces, the extension removes the need for manual review or secondary style checks.

Chief Science Officer Matt Altobelli noted that every question inherently contains a nudge that influences human behavior. The tool seeks to make these subtle psychological pressures visible to the user, providing immediate alternatives to maintain neutrality. This release expands the company’s existing platform, which is already utilized by product and research teams to refine interview guides and customer insight surveys. The extension is currently available for download, extending the reach of the company's bias-detection technology beyond its proprietary dashboard and into the daily workflows of researchers.
