InCoax and Nokia launch multi-gigabit broadband over coax in Minnesota

This rollout represents a significant operational shift for the Swedish firm InCoax, moving its joint technology with Nokia from the validation phase into a live U.S. network environment. By utilizing MoCA Access technology, Sjoberg’s aims to bypass the complexities and high costs associated with installing new fiber-optic cabling throughout older multi-dwelling units. The project allows the operator to extend its fiber-based broadband services directly to individual subscribers using the building's legacy coaxial wiring.

Beyond simple connectivity, the integration includes the Nokia Altiplano Access Controller, allowing Sjoberg’s to manage its fiber and coax infrastructure through a unified interface. The operator has also incorporated diagnostic capabilities into its TruVizion platform, providing real-time performance monitoring for the new hardware. CEO Jakob Tobieson noted that this milestone serves as a critical reference point for further expansion of the technology across other operator networks. The deployment also aligns with sustainability goals by minimizing construction waste and the need for new cabling materials within the residential properties.
