HeroDevs Joins Linux Foundation’s Akrites to Patch Abandoned Code

The partnership integrates HeroDevs’ specialized experience in vulnerability remediation into the Akrites framework, which manages embargoed disclosures and coordinates industry-wide security responses. By contributing engineering hours to Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) activities, the company aims to bridge the gap between initial threat detection and the deployment of validated patches for critical software libraries.

Aaron Mitchell, CEO of HeroDevs, noted that the industry has reached a point where attackers frequently outpace official vulnerability disclosures. This initiative allows the firm to act as a maintainer of last resort, addressing security flaws in abandoned projects to prevent downstream users from remaining exposed. For existing clients, the move reinforces the company’s focus on maintaining end-of-life software, allowing organizations to manage technical migrations on their own schedules rather than reacting to external security pressures.
