Airbility Lands $4.7 Million Series A to Scale Drone Defense Tech

South Korean aerospace startup Airbility has secured $4.7 million in Series A funding led by Silicon Valley-based Sazze Partners. The investment, which brings the company’s total capital raised to $7.6 million, will accelerate the production of its high-speed eVTOL platforms designed to intercept hostile unmanned aerial systems.

The capital injection supports Airbility’s push to commercialize an integrated counter-UAS portfolio, a technology stack intended to bridge the cost gap between expensive surface-to-air missiles and low-cost attack drones. By utilizing high-speed electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft as motherships, the company aims to reduce engagement costs to between $50 and $3,000 per intercept.

Airbility, co-founded in 2023 by former Agency for Defense Development researchers, is currently developing a trio of interceptors. The lineup includes the net-gun-equipped AB-U10, slated for commercial release by the end of 2026, alongside the kinetic-focused AB-U2 and fixed-wing AB-U4L, both expected in early 2027. Beyond hardware, the funding will fuel the development of onboard AI capable of autonomous mission execution in communications-limited environments.

With existing backing from Stonebridge Ventures and new support from the Industrial Bank of Korea, the company is moving toward global deployment. Airbility is currently engaged in commercial discussions across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Latin America, targeting cumulative revenue of KRW 50 billion by 2028.
