CityUHK Dongguan Welcomes Third Intake Amid Rapid Campus Expansion

The 2026 intake marks a notable rise in admission standards, attracting top-tier talent from across the Chinese mainland, including national science Olympiad winners. Beyond domestic recruitment, the university has broadened its reach to include students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, alongside a growing international contingent. This diverse student body now joins a campus that has secured strategic partnerships with over 40 global institutions, such as the University of Cambridge, UC Berkeley, and University College London.

Master’s programs at the Dongguan campus have gained significant traction, drawing applicants from prestigious domestic schools like Peking and Tsinghua University, as well as global institutions including Imperial College London and the University of Melbourne. For students like Meerim from Kyrgyzstan and Osman from Kazakhstan, the draw lies in the university’s international reputation and the campus's integration of modern architecture with green, ecological design. The ceremony was overseen by Executive President Lu Chun and attended by a delegation of academic leaders, including members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, to mark the next phase of the university's growth within the Greater Bay Area.
