IXL Launches Snapshot to Bridge Assessment Gaps in Schools

Administrators often struggle with blind spots when months pass between major testing windows, leaving student progress unmonitored. To address this, IXL Learning has introduced LevelUp Snapshot, a diagnostic tool designed to provide performance data in 15 minutes, allowing districts to pivot instructional strategies before the school year slips away.

IXL Launches Snapshot to Bridge Assessment Gaps in Schools

The new tool functions as an interim assessment, fitting into the existing LevelUp suite to provide a bridge between formal benchmarks. While a standard LevelUp Benchmark takes between 45 and 90 minutes to establish a comprehensive baseline, the 15-minute Snapshot allows for frequent, low-stakes check-ins. According to Kate Mattison, Vice President of Curriculum at IXL Learning, waiting months for data often results in missed opportunities for intervention.

Beyond the Snapshot, the platform maintains a Real-Time mode that tracks performance through 10 weekly questions, ensuring personalized action plans remain current. By layering these three approaches—initial benchmarks, periodic snapshots, and real-time monitoring—districts can maintain a continuous view of student achievement across classrooms. These tools are currently integrated into the IXL ecosystem, which serves 18 million students and the vast majority of the top 100 U.S. school districts.
