The campaign, titled "So…Your Friend Has Parkinson's," was developed by Ryan Reynolds’ production company, Maximum Effort. The project features the two actors in a candid, humorous exchange about the practical realities of the condition—ranging from handwriting struggles to the risk of social isolation. By leveraging the chemistry they built while filming the series Shrinking, the pair aims to strip away the discomfort often surrounding neurodegenerative diagnoses.
This initiative arrives as Parkinson’s remains the fastest-growing neurodegenerative disease globally, with cases projected to double by 2040. Beyond the video’s message of support, the campaign serves as a precursor to the Foundation’s upcoming $2.5-billion fundraising drive, "All Grit. No Quit." Since its inception in 2000, The Michael J. Fox Foundation has funneled over $3 billion into research, pushing the medical community toward what many experts describe as a critical inflection point in drug development and potential breakthroughs.
