ZPMC Launches Heavy-Lift Fleet for Chipolbrok

On August 28, Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) christened the first two of four 38,000 DWT multipurpose heavy-lift vessels built for Chipolbrok. These 182-meter ships mark ZPMC’s strategic entry into the specialized heavy-lift market, combining high-capacity engineering with modular cargo flexibility for global oversized transport operations.

The vessels, classed by DNV, feature a 30-meter beam and a 9.8-meter design draft. Their architectural design prioritizes cargo versatility through full-length open decks and two expansive cargo holds reaching 76.8 meters in length. Each ship carries three ZPMC-engineered 350-ton cranes, allowing for tandem lifts of up to 700 tons to accommodate wind power infrastructure and heavy machinery.

Beyond raw lifting power, the series addresses modern environmental standards. The integration of a shaft generator and a battery system enables peak-load management and energy recovery, lowering fuel consumption and improving Carbon Intensity Indicator ratings. As the fleet prepares for international service, these technical specifications position the vessels to meet growing demand for the transport of specialized engineering components.
