iRobot Unveils Roomba Max 875 with Heavy-Duty Vacuum and Steam Mopping

iRobot has launched its flagship Roomba Max 875 Combo, a robotic cleaner designed to automate high-performance floor care. Moving beyond standard suction, the device debuts SealForce technology to tighten the vacuum’s grip on carpets, paired with a heated mist system that targets dried-on spills without manual intervention.

The Bedford-based robotics firm aims to tackle the persistent limitations of automated cleaning through mechanical innovation. The new model utilizes a chassis-lowering skirt that forces airflow directly into carpet fibers, generating 35,000 Pa of suction power. According to company engineers, this seal is the primary driver for a claimed threefold increase in deep-cleaning performance on rugs.

Mopping capabilities have seen a similar overhaul. The unit integrates ThermaMist technology, which continuously applies heated mist to soften debris, while the PowerSpin Max roller—the largest in the company's lineup—scrubs floors at 300 RPM. To protect carpets, the system employs AI-powered DriLift technology, automatically raising the mop and deploying a protective shield upon detection of fabric surfaces. The accompanying AutoWash dock completes the autonomous cycle, washing the mop with 80°C water and self-emptying debris for up to 90 days. The Roomba Max 875 is available starting September 2 for £1099.
