The transaction, which follows an agreement first signed in November 2025, represents a strategic pivot for ASUR as it seeks to capture greater market share in Latin America. The acquisition was funded through a dedicated loan facility secured at the time of the initial offer. By absorbing these assets, ASUR gains a foothold in Brazil, currently the region’s largest aviation market by passenger volume.
This move significantly bolsters ASUR’s existing infrastructure network, which already spans Mexico, Colombia, and Puerto Rico. The company currently manages 16 airports, including the high-traffic Cancún International and the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan. Motiva, meanwhile, retains its focus on its extensive toll road and rail assets, continuing to manage 37 infrastructure properties across 13 Brazilian states.
