Hycroft Mining Expands Board with Four Industry Veterans

Hycroft Mining Holding Corporation has appointed four seasoned mining executives to its Board of Directors, signaling a strategic push to accelerate the development of its Nevada-based gold and silver assets. The additions, effective September 1, 2026, expand the company's board to nine members as it shifts toward processing sulfide mineralization.

The new appointees bring deep operational and financial experience from some of the world's largest mining firms. Richard O’Brien, formerly CEO of Newmont Mining, joins as the new Lead Independent Director. He is joined by Marcelo Godoy, Chief Technology Officer at AngloGold Ashanti; Josh Olmsted, a long-time operational leader at Freeport-McMoRan; and Blake Rhodes, a former Newmont executive with extensive expertise in mergers and acquisitions.

Diane R. Garrett, Hycroft’s Executive Chairman and CEO, described the expansion as a pivotal moment for the company. She noted that the new directors' combined history of managing large-scale operations and complex technical projects will be critical as the company advances its 2025-2026 exploration drill program. The board reshuffle includes the transition of Thomas Weng, who will remain on the board while relinquishing his role as Lead Independent Director to O’Brien.
