A-LIGN Acquires Pathfynder to Bolster Offensive Security Services

Compliance alone is no longer a sufficient shield against AI-accelerated threats, prompting Tampa-based A-LIGN to acquire the veteran-owned firm Pathfynder. By integrating this specialized offensive security team, A-LIGN aims to move its 6,400 global clients beyond standard audits toward active, real-world adversary simulation and advanced technical defense.

A-LIGN Acquires Pathfynder to Bolster Offensive Security Services

The acquisition merges A-LIGN’s established compliance infrastructure with Pathfynder’s elite expertise in red teaming, network penetration testing, and incident response. Pathfynder will operate under the new moniker Pathfynder by A-LIGN, maintaining a strict internal firewall between its offensive testing units and A-LIGN’s existing audit and assurance groups. This structural separation is designed to protect the integrity of both compliance reporting and security assessments.

Scott Price, CEO of A-LIGN, stated that the move allows the company to provide technical cybersecurity services that leverage deep institutional knowledge of a client’s environment without compromising assessment independence. For Pathfynder founder DJ Fuller, the transition offers a platform to scale their military and intelligence-backed methodologies to a wider enterprise audience. The deal effectively simplifies the vendor landscape for A-LIGN’s clients, granting them access to high-stakes security testing through a single partnership.
